Jean Ocana

Former Honorary Consul of Spain, Jean Ocana upholds the memory of Spanish Republicans through a civic approach grounded in dignity, transparency and human rights.

A voice for memory and republican values

Son of a Spanish Republican exile in France, he notably petitioned the Grand Chancellery of the Legion of Honour to revoke French honours awarded to Francisco Franco — in the name of victims of the Civil War and the dictatorship, and in the name of rigorous historical truth.

His work aligns with memorial associations and civic debate in Occitania and across Europe. A former honorary consul and holder of distinctions such as the Spanish Order of Civil Merit, he embodies grassroots commitment to dialogue and justice.
